Ice Cream Shop Team Member
We are looking for friendly, dependable, and upbeat individuals to join our team as Ice Cream Shop Team Members. In this role, you’ll deliver an amazing customer experience by serving our award-winning ice cream with warm, on-brand hospitality. Team Members support daily shop operations, maintain a clean and welcoming environment, and ensure every guest leaves a little happier than they arrived.
- To ensure proper staffing during our busiest times, all employees are required to maintain weekend night availability. Weekend nights are defined as Friday and Saturday evenings.
- Each employee must be available to work at least two (2) weekend night shifts within every four (4) week period. Schedules are created with this requirement in mind, and employees are expected to plan personal activities accordingly.
- At this time we are only accepting applications from individuals at least 16 years old. This is due to limitations on hours that can be worked based on federal child labor laws.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and serve customers with a positive, welcoming attitude
- Scoop and prepare ice cream orders accurately and efficiently
- Operate the POS system, handle payments, and provide receipts
- Restock toppings, cones, cups, pints, and merchandise as needed
- Assist with making hand-packed pints and ensuring accurate labeling
- Help maintain shop cleanliness, including counters, tables, equipment, and floors
- Follow food safety standards and Home Sweet Cone operational procedures
- Support opening or closing duties depending on shift
- Act as a team player and communicate effectively with coworkers and leadership

Catering & Events Team Member
Love ice cream, events, and making people smile? Join the Home Sweet Cone Catering & Events Team! Our catering staff brings the magic of Home Sweet Cone to weddings, corporate events, school celebrations, and community gatherings.
This role is perfect for someone who is reliable, outgoing, and enjoys working independently while representing our brand in the community.
All of our catering is handled at our Waukee location.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional, friendly customer service and positively represent the Home Sweet Cone brand
- Set up, serve, and break down catering events according to company standards
- Safely drive catering vehicles and transport equipment to and from events
- Maintain excellent food safety, handling, and cleanliness standards
- Accurately scoop and serve ice cream with consistent quality and presentation; this includes onsite scooping and catering orders where scoops are prepared ahead of time
- Communicate clearly with the events manager and team before, during, and after events
- Keep catering equipment, supplies, and freezers clean, organized, and stocked
- Assist with inventory, restocking, and preparation for upcoming events
- Help create a fun, welcoming experience for guests at every event
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Comfortable driving a catering vehicle (no CDL required)
- Weekend and evening availability is required (this is when most events occur)
- Strong reliability and punctuality — events cannot start late
- Ability to work independently and solve problems on your own
- Friendly, positive, and professional attitude
- Ability to lift 40–50 pounds and work on your feet for several hours
- Customer service experience preferred (food service is a plus, but not required)
Compensation:
$15-$18/hour + tips (often ranges from an additional $5-$15 per hour)
Ice Cream Shop Manager - Ingersoll
We are seeking an energetic, friendly and reliable Ice Cream Shop Manager to lead our newest location which is slated to open at the end of September/early October. In this role, you will oversee daily operations, manage staff, and maintain high standards of food safety, quality, and service. Your leadership will drive the success of the shop by fostering a positive environment, optimizing sales, and ensuring efficient food preparation and service. This role balances hands-on service with behind-the-scenes management. You will be expected to build relationships with employees, lead by example, teach and also help develop employees.
Culture is critically important at Home Sweet Cone. You will work very closely with the owner and management team. As a small business, we are constantly evolving, learning and growing so we need someone who is flexible, eager to learn, innovative and a team player!
Duties
- Lead and supervise daily shop operations, including food preparation, serving, and cash handling
- Manage staff scheduling, training, and development to ensure team efficiency and excellent customer service
- Oversee inventory control, ordering supplies, and maintaining stock levels to minimize waste and maximize profitability
- Operate POS systems
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and proper food handling procedures at all times
- Monitor quality control of products including ice cream consistency, toppings, and presentation
- Conduct shift management duties including opening/closing procedures, cash reconciliation, and reporting on sales performance
Qualifications
- Proven experience in quick service or fast food restaurant management with a strong background in food preparation and kitchen management (preferred but not required)
- Demonstrated supervisory skills with experience in staff training, team management, and interviewing candidates

- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently in a fast-paced environment
We employ a lot of high school aged employees – many of whom it is their first job. For that reason, there is a lot of patience needed when filling this manager role. The right person will be positive, encouraging and lead by example for this relatively younger workforce!
We will plan to have paid, on the job training at our Waukee and West Des Moines locations until our Ingersoll/Des Moines shop opens this fall.
Pay: $22.00 – $25.00 per hour with bonus potential
