Ice Cream Shop Team Member
We are looking for friendly, dependable, and upbeat individuals to join our team as Ice Cream Shop Team Members. In this role, you’ll deliver an amazing customer experience by serving our award-winning ice cream with warm, on-brand hospitality. Team Members support daily shop operations, maintain a clean and welcoming environment, and ensure every guest leaves a little happier than they arrived.
- To ensure proper staffing during our busiest times, all employees are required to maintain weekend night availability. Weekend nights are defined as Friday and Saturday evenings.
- Each employee must be available to work at least two (2) weekend night shifts within every four (4) week period. Schedules are created with this requirement in mind, and employees are expected to plan personal activities accordingly.
- At this time we are only accepting applications from individuals at least 16 years old. This is due to limitations on hours that can be worked based on federal child labor laws.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and serve customers with a positive, welcoming attitude
- Scoop and prepare ice cream orders accurately and efficiently
- Operate the POS system, handle payments, and provide receipts
- Restock toppings, cones, cups, pints, and merchandise as needed
- Assist with making hand-packed pints and ensuring accurate labeling
- Help maintain shop cleanliness, including counters, tables, equipment, and floors
- Follow food safety standards and Home Sweet Cone operational procedures
- Support opening or closing duties depending on shift
- Act as a team player and communicate effectively with coworkers and leadership

Compensation
- Averages $15-$18/hour with tips
Catering & Events Team Member
Love ice cream, events, and making people smile? Join the Home Sweet Cone Catering & Events Team! Our catering staff brings the magic of Home Sweet Cone to weddings, corporate events, school celebrations, and community gatherings.
This role is perfect for someone who is reliable, outgoing, and enjoys working independently while representing our brand in the community.
All of our catering is handled at our Waukee location.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional, friendly customer service and positively represent the Home Sweet Cone brand
- Set up, serve, and break down catering events according to company standards
- Safely drive catering vehicles and transport equipment to and from events
- Maintain excellent food safety, handling, and cleanliness standards
- Accurately scoop and serve ice cream with consistent quality and presentation; this includes onsite scooping and catering orders where scoops are prepared ahead of time
- Communicate clearly with the events manager and team before, during, and after events
- Keep catering equipment, supplies, and freezers clean, organized, and stocked
- Assist with inventory, restocking, and preparation for upcoming events
- Help create a fun, welcoming experience for guests at every event
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Comfortable driving a catering vehicle (no CDL required)
- Weekend and evening availability is required (this is when most events occur)
- Strong reliability and punctuality — events cannot start late
- Ability to work independently and solve problems on your own
- Friendly, positive, and professional attitude
- Ability to lift 40–50 pounds and work on your feet for several hours
- Customer service experience preferred (food service is a plus, but not required)
Compensation:
$15-$18/hour + tips (often ranges from an additional $5-$15 per hour)
